Adam Sandler may not be heartthrob of the year, but he'll always be a sidesplitting knockout to the people.
Sandler was honored at the People's Choice Awards Sunday night with the icon award. The actor-comedian was introduced by longtime pal and "Murder Mystery 2" co-star Jennifer Aniston.
"I am here to recognize my very good friend, my brother from another mother, an extraordinary father (and) husband and one of the most loyal friends you could ever, ever have," said Aniston, praising Sandler as "iconic." "I don’t remember a time when Adam wasn't a part of popular culture."
Sandler kicked off his acceptance speech by thanking Aniston for her tribute. "I love you so much. And I know you don't love doing stuff like this," to which Aniston quipped, "I love it. I just get nervous."
Adam Sandler thought People's Choice Award was People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive honor
The "Happy Gilmore" actor then went on to confess that he confused the PCA award with the title of People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive, prompting him to read a speech he prepared for the steamy honor.
"To the People magazine's academy members of hotness and sexual attractiveness, I would like to say thank you for recognizing me as the man who made our entire country the horniest this year," Sandler said. "And was by far the most talked about person in the bedroom by couples or throuples during fantasy roleplay and slappy time."
"I am trying to be gracious, People Magazine, but I have to admit three words keep popping into my head right now: 'It's about freaking time!' " he joked onstage. "For decades, Adam Sandler has been waiting patiently on the sexy bench."
Adam Sandler pokes fun at memes about his fashion
Sandler also poked fun at his signature baggy style in his remarks.
"I ain’t hiding nothing. Underneath my XX, loose-fitting leisurewear is pure perfection. Here are the highlights. My abs, don’t have any. My hip bones, under there somewhere. My bellybutton, lost that thing years ago. My nipples: one pointing east, the other pointing south and a third pointing at anything that would dare to look at it."
But it wasn't all just laughs. The "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah" star also took a moment to give a heartfelt thanks to "all of the people who’ve worked hard on the movies," as well as wife Jackie and daughter Sadie.
"My darling wife Jackie, you are my partner for life," Sandler said. "I love every car ride and every kiss we’ve ever had. Forever and ever my girl."
